This year for our vacation we decided to take a “mini-vacation” in Toledo, Ohio, with Grandma and Grandpa and my brother’s family. We were all invited to a 4th of July picnic and stayed for a few extra days. We all had a lot of fun, but wished it could have been a little bit longer- maybe next year! The kids really enjoyed the pool at the hotel, and since it was close to 100 degrees outside no one minded that it was inside!
After we spent some time swimming, we headed over to the cookout. Here is Daddy helping the little boys with sparklers!
The “four monkeys” couldn’t resist jumping on the hotel bed- thankfully no one fell off!
Our plan was to visit the Toledo Zoo, but when the temperature outside kept climbing, we decided to do something inside. Instead we went to Imagination Station! It was a great choice and the kids (both little and big) all had a blast! There was a farm exhibit and the kids were able to see some baby farm animals (chickens, ducks, bunnies).
Caspian gave milking a cow a try!
The “Grow U” is where you can test your farming knowledge. The characters on the stage move and talk.
Moose and his cousin on the tractor!
Aurora and her uncle trying to withstand hurricane force winds!
The kids attempted a television sportscast- Caspian is the only one being serious!
There was a “refinery” set up and the kids had to load it up!
If you are ever near Toledo, I would highly recommend going to Imagination Station. The kids really enjoyed it and we were able to stay inside where it wasn’t 100 degrees!
Here is a picture of the whole family (except Grandma and Grandpa) waiting for our table.
Caspian and Aurora went home with Grandma and Grandpa and stopped for a last minute shopping trip! Here they are with their cousin.
Meanwhile, we found out on the drive home that Moose gets car sick:( Note to self: no more playing the iPad in a moving car! We had a great time on our vacation, but it is always nice to come home and sleep in your own bed! It was refreshing to have some time away before we start school next week. Hope you were able to do something fun for the 4th of July!
