There is something very rewarding about taking an old piece of furniture, using a little bit of elbow grease, and making it look brand new!

  1. Job well done! Did you re-upholster the cushion too? I’m always amazed at how easy that task is, yet what a difference it makes.

    • I did re-upholster them:) And since the kids are so small I covered the fabric with some heavy duty plastic…not my favorite but it saves the chairs when we have spills (which happens quite frequently!).

    • Thanks, Heather! I used a Red Oak stain, and Minwax Polycrylic satin finish varnish. They make water-based varnish now so it is so much less stinky!

    • I am blessed to have a mother to teach me all of these fantastic things! But really, if you know anyone who does furniture refinishing, just ask them if you could watch. It is one of those things that once you see it done it is so much easier to do it yourself:)
