How many times do you have the opportunity to read a book and know, without a doubt, that it will change your life? As soon as I began reading Trim Healthy Mama, I had that exact feeling.
I have never read a “diet” book (and I use that term loosely) that not only actually made sense as a long term solution, but also explained every detail behind why they eat the way they eat. The best part…the science behind it is written in an understandable way! Every time I eat I have a picture in my head now about what certain foods are going to do to my fat cells, whether it is good or bad.
As you read Trim Healthy Mama, you can begin to see that these ladies have a passion to help others reach their optimal health. They show you how to do this in a way that won’t burden you or your family. As a busy homeschooling mom I can’t even imagine how much work went into this book! But, they obviously have a great message that is well-receive by fellow busy moms everywhere!
Most “diet” books have such a strict diet that is makes it quite a challenge for a mom to cook food for herself, and then cook a separate meal for her family. This is NOT one of those books! The whole family is included so I only have one meal to cook! This is a HUGE help! How many “diet” books have you burned out on because it requires too much prepping, planning, and cooking? You won’t find that problem with Trim Healthy Mama! And the best part…it is easy on the budget!
You may wonder what is included in this book. The only answer to that is: A LOT!!! Think of it as a science book, diet book, recipe book, exercise consulting book, hormone regulation book, and an autobiography about Serene and Pearl…all wrapped into one beautiful book!
Here is a brief description of the sections of the book:
Gain the Knowledge: This section includes descriptions of a few cases where women eating a certain diet were either not able to lose weight or they were gaining weight. Serene and Pearl explain what this is happening and what to do about it, all while following a Biblical approach to eating.
Practice the Knowledge: The heart and soul of the book. This is where you find out what you will be eating and why. So much useful information here!
Join Us in the Kitchen: Where else can you find a complete recipe book in a diet book?! There are SO many great recipes here that it would be impossible to run out of options. Our meals will never be boring again!
Our Past and Present: There is something wonderful about knowing where a person came from and how they became what they are today. You will get to know Serene and Pearl in this section.
More Than Food: Serene and Pearl were so sweet to have included this section in their book! There is so much information here that they really could have made it another book! But they were generous enough to put it all together for us:) This section is all about hormones, exercise, pregnancy, and much more!
Those of you that have read this blog for a while know that I have been eating mostly Paleo for a while. So what lead me in search of another diet book? Well, I was slowly starting to gain weight again, even though I was eating the same way I had been eating all along. And my energy levels were taking a serious nose dive! Not good for a busy mama! After reading the first section of Trim Healthy Mama, I knew exactly why this was happening.
Does Trim Healthy Mama actually work? Well, after 2 weeks of following it loosely (I needed to go to the store to get more of the ingredients for some of the recipes) my husband and I were able to lose a total of 14 lbs.! AMAZING! And this is without adding exercise into the mix yet! The best part…the kids don’t even know we have changed our way of eating!
