I have never really been a huge fiction reader. I guess my thought has always been that if I read a non-fiction book I will be multi-tasking by reading and learning at the same time. I thought that fictional books didn’t really have much to teach. But this new book, Beloved (Where The Heart Lives), by Robin Lee Hatcher has changed my mind!

This book tells the story of a girl named Diana. She was orphaned as a small child but was later adopted by two very loving parents. As a young adult she met a well-to-do man named Tyson Applegate and immediately fell in love with him. Tyson was only interested in an inheritance and agitating his father, so he married Diana. Not too long after that Tyson “ran away” overseas and was later presumed dead. After much pain and hurt Diana tries to move on. But on the night of her anticipated engagement to a man named Brook, Tyson shows up alive and well! Now he has to try to win Diana back and prove to her that he is truly a changed man.

Have you ever had someone in your life that you just found impossible to forgive? Well, that is exactly how Diana felt toward Tyson. She tried and tried to push him away. Tyson has to do everything he can to win back the love and trust of his wife, but can he do it? Can he win back her new affections toward Brook? Well, I guess you will just have to read the book to find out:)

This is one of those books that is exciting enough to keep you reading, even when you may have other things to do (like sleeping!). The end of each chapter tells a little bit more of the past story of Tyson and Diana, so at the end of the book you completely understand how they arrived where they are in the present day.

While reading this book I really started to think about how we all can hold past wrongs against each other.  I can see how easily we could move beyond this and enjoy life a little bit more if we were only willing to forgive each other and grant the second chances our Heavenly Father gives to us daily! The bitterness we can hold onto only causes us to miss out on some wonderful opportunities.

So now I can officially say it is very possible to learn something from a fictional book! If you would like to check out other review on the blog tour, just click here.
